Little Thakeham is a venue equipped to accommodate big expectations; having a stately presence pleasingly paired with refreshing solitude, there’s no doubting its potential to host the wedding of your dreams.
Situated between Storrington and Thakeham in rural West Sussex’s South Downs National Park, its imposing character imprints a lasting and unique impression upon any big event.
The house was designed and completed by renowned architect Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1903. Comprising of two storeys on a symmetrical, H-shaped plan, and built in locally quarried coursed sandstone.
Little Thakeham offers a selection of event spaces across enclosed grounds and formal gardens, while there is also the delightful opportunity for a marquee- or festival-themed wedding in the south paddock.
The surrounding Grade I listed gardens, meanwhile, provide a peaceful oasis with light dashing through the mature trees – every wedding photographer’s dream.

House on the Brooks is an enchanting self-catering, five star house within the scenic South Downs; benefiting from idyllic views across the river Rother Valley and beyond. This versatile venue is exceptional for any celebratory occasion; be it a wedding reception, an intimate dinner party or perhaps a hen or stag weekend. Whichever the affair may be, this location provides the possibilities.
With accommodation comprising four large boutique bedrooms, plus additional sleeping, it welcomes a total of 12 guests within the house, as well as sleeping 9 in the beautiful nearby barn. The property also offers a wealth of space for campers, and permits a bonfire on the surrounding land giving an optional “festival theme”.
The Saxon-inspired, central hall provides rustic living and dining; having exposed beams and huge restored timbers featured throughout. However this west facing home comes with all the modern amenities, despite holding historic significance to the Iron Age and a Roman fort close by. It really is old meets new.
Set in twenty-five acres of wildflower meadows, yet being attractively situated near to a main road and rail connections, this luxury estate provides an impressive scene for cherished memories.
